Asja Jung

Asja Jung

Asja Jung was born in Hamburg, Germany, where she started horse riding when she was 4 years old - her legs were too long, horse belly was too big - but it was the best thing that happened to her. She grew up to become a medical illustrator and later a freelancing artist living and working in New York City and in New Jersey. As an artist she now specializes in horse portraits working in various sizes, materials and techniques. A large amount of her work is commissioned by horse owners. Independently she creates unusual drawings on fabric combining ornaments with hyperrealism and employing imagery taken from pop culture and from art history itself. Asja honors the horse as an animal she simply loves. Beyond all this she always searches for unexplored angles to portray the majesty of this creature we all love.
