Over 90 species of birds live and nest along Ten Mile Beach, but it is also home to seals , river otters, whales, dolphins, and so much more. There are tons of hiking trails, beautiful places to camp and let's not forget the reason why we all want to visit this gorgeous place: horseback riding on Ten Mile Beach!
Ricochet Ridge Ranch
Ricochet Ridge Ranch offers daily horseback rides on Ten Mile Beach. Group and private rides are available beginning at 9:30am. The ranch is located two miles north of Fort Bragg and is located across from Mackerricher State Park in Cleone, Ca. Riders aged six and older are allowed to take part on this beautiful beach ride, but double or bareback riding is not permitted. The horses here are suitable for first time riders to experienced/competition riders, so you will be sure to have a great time!
On the day of your ride it is important to arrive 10-15 minutes before your ride time. This will give you enough time to watch the safety video and for everyone to fill out the required waiver forms. The ride itself is one hour but the entire experience is 1.5 hours from start to finish.
The one hour ride is a walk only ride. If you are more advanced and would like to be able to trot and canter during your beach ride you should choose a 3 or 4 hour private ride.
All riders under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Release form prior to mounting. Closed toed shoes and long pants are necessary and it is advised to dress in layers so you are prepared for the chilly coastal breeze. Custom rides and riding vacation packages are available as well as gift certificates. Reservations are necessary and can be made online or by calling the ranch directly.
